NewGen has an opening for a Tier II Network Technician and Communication Security (COMSEC) Responsible Officer to support the customer’s computer data communications systems, in providing design specifications, testing and inspections for computer networks; plan and implementing upgrades; as well as, analyzing and organizing corresponding hardware and software combined solutions through network modeling.

- Candidate must have 10 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a Doctorate and 3 years, master’s and 4 years, bachelor’s and 6 years, associates and 8 years or HS diploma and 10 years.
Additional required qualifications include:
- Must comply with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2. COMSEC, Layer 1, and Layer 2 network experience.
- Working knowledge of basic routing fundamentals, crypto convert, IApp management system, layer 2 switching concepts, layer 3 protocols such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), and Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP), Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, and ServiceNow or similar IT Service Management (ITSM) products.
The job duties of the Tier II Network Technician / COMSEC Responsible Officer are a combination of both networking and COMSEC responsibilities and experience as follows:
- Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades utilizing the customer ticketing application [ServiceNow].
- Create and maintain a COMSEC file plan IAW COMSEC policy, and an authorized COMSEC access list.
- Ensure cryptographic equipment is keyed IAW the supporting key’s effective and supersession dates.
- Ensure TPI requirements are followed when handling Top Secret COMSEC material.
- Establish a comprehensive COMSEC training program for all briefed individuals.
- Implement standard network change requests and incident requests within standard timelines.
- Maintain accountabilities for all COMSEC material issued to their subaccount.
- Perform configuration management functions such as update topology drawings, ensure asset management records are accurate, and inventoried.
- Prepare a written emergency plan detailing how COMSEC equipment should be handled in emergency situations; ensure COMSEC briefed personnel are properly trained on this document.
- Processes all transfer, destruction, & inventory documents in a timely manner; return paperwork to the program office.
- Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, coordinate and install new equipment).
- Report any known or suspected COMSEC incidents.
- Return all excess or faulty equipment within the appropriate time frames utilizing the appropriate security processes.
- Support the installation and maintenance of the client’s Local Area Network (LAN)/Wide Area Network (WAN) devices.
- Validate the continuing need for COMSEC material held on the account by creating a Requirements Letter.
